I 65

Pushing paint Running from the clock
Jamming gears to stay out of hock
The American dream with only 450 scenic miles between
(Hammer down and watch the lines blur like a black scalded cat with smoking fur)
Chi town bound from a Louisville run
A round trip ticket that's never done
A G-note made for a 3 day stretch leaves you dead at the wheel with a coffee gut wretch
(hammer down and watch the white lines blur like a black scalded cat with smoking fur)
In the home stretch now as the ground stretches out flat
You eyes play games as they lower their flap
Waking up to the bridge as it rests in your lap
You've missed the exit and have heard the steer tires snap
A perfect stranger stops to show you the final way
a life line home as you begin floating away
Making your peace on a strangers phone
your watching it all as your above floating alone
(hammer down and watch the white lines blur
Like a black scalded cat with smoking fur
a feeling of freedom with the wind in your stacks
leave the rubber on the road to meet your family when you get back)
