Northern pines

covering lake butternut is a crisp cool night
Not a care in the world and the stars are bright
The fish are biting as the mosquitoes serve themselves a fresh pint
A lonely boat with a red, white and green light
Drifting in the darkness across from the northern pines marker light
Cast after cast we wet down the bait
While the sneaky old muskie refuse to wait
No one is speaking only refilling the hooks
Trying to out smart the old fish fabled in story books
filling our stringer with a walleye shore snack
We clean em and cook em washing them down with a beer
walking down the pier to the darkness afloat
A refreshed silent attack launched from blue and white boat

  1. This is a good one... reminds me of the weekend we spent up in Black's Cliff resort. You should come up next time we go..
